Join Cape Breton Island's Sea Kayak Company for a full-day of sea kayaking or hiking in Gabarus Protected Wilderness Area. For the sea kayaking option, our nationally certified guides will provide some instruction and then lead you by water to an old abandoned fishing village, once home to the Scottish settlers of the Bay. On the way, your guides will delight you with local stories while you paddle with a variety of seabirds, seals and marine life. Hikers will walk the shores of the Protected Wilderness Area to Cape Gabarus, with its panoramic ocean view. Lunch is prepared on the beach using fresh ingredients and accompanied by homemade goodies for dessert and snacks. A walk around the old village of Gull Cove will have you encountering old stone foundations and rock walls, remnants of hundreds of years of settlement - now deserted. Beginners welcome (no experience is necessary). A seaworthy experience that you don't want to miss.
